James Gold
Principal Consultant and Certified Executive Coach
James Gold has more than 25 years of nonprofit experience, primarily within the health care and higher education sectors. He is an accomplished philanthropy officer in major and planned giving, integrating both in the creation and implementation of comprehensive campaigns ranging between $16 million and $1 billion. He brings a thoughtful, empathetic approach to mentoring and coaching philanthropy staff and leaders at all experience levels. Using a donor-centered approach, James enjoys the cultivation of long-term relationships and the trust-building necessary to match donor interests with institutional needs through philanthropy. His proficiencies also include staff recruitment and training, campaign assessments, major and planned giving coaching, gift acceptance and endowment policy creation/review and nonprofit board bylaws.
Prior to Accordant, James held a leadership position with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he created and led collaborative efforts that exceeded substantial campaign goals. While holding various management positions in health systems and higher education institutions, he finds his greatest joy in connecting, mentoring and collaborating with talented development professionals on a shared journey of continuous professional and personal growth. James believes that our best selves emerge when we embrace authenticity in all that we do.
James has earned certifications from the National Planned Giving Institute at the College of William and Mary and in The Disciple of Frontline Fundraising from Plus Delta Partners. He also earned his executive coaching certification from the Center for Executive Coaching through the University of Kansas. He holds a degree in psychology from Moravian University. In his free time, James demonstrates his commitment to community by serving on his local Meals on Wheels board of directors and as a board member of The 11 Day Power Play in Buffalo, New York, an organization dedicated to funding cancer research and supporting families impacted by cancer.
